I'll be cynical.
It is no other reason.

For the large fee? Patience, there was a clear risk
For Peace? With weapons in hand it is difficult, especially "American".
For honor, country, or a sense of duty? Well then surely would not want a lot of sympathy and a lot of media speculation.
it bothers me.
May they rest in peace, but peace in all that the media disinformation they create just to reshuffle clichés.
